As part of our 40th anniversary celebrations, past and present trustees of PWSAI came together to celebrate four decades of the Association and the people who have helped shape its journey.

During the evening, we were incredibly proud to announce Don Tallon as PWSAI’s new Honorary President.

This is a very special recognition for someone who has been at the heart of PWSAI from the very beginning.

Don was one of the original founders of PWSAI and 40 years later, his passion and commitment to the Association and to people with Prader-Willi syndrome and their families remains as strong as ever.

Don didn’t simply help establish PWSAI and then step away. He has continued to give his time, energy, ideas and determination throughout the Association’s entire history. He has been a driving force, an advocate and a constant source of ideas and enthusiasm.

As our Chairperson Rory Tierney said during the celebrations:

“Everything good that happens in PWSAI has probably come from Don’s mind at some point — and I’m sure he’ll tell us that he has plenty more ideas yet!”

His contribution over 40 years is difficult to put into words. He has helped shape PWSAI into the organisation it is today and, most importantly, he has never lost sight of why PWSAI exists: to support people with Prader-Willi syndrome and their families.

So, Don, from all of us at PWSAI, a heartfelt thank you.

Thank you for the vision that started PWSAI.

Thank you for the determination that helped build it.

Thank you for 40 years of commitment.

And thank you for everything you have done and continue to do for our community.

We are delighted and honoured to welcome Don Tallon as Honorary President of PWSAI. 🧡

As we celebrated 40 years, we also remembered Lena Lawlor who co-founded PWSAI and Ann Grassick who are no longer with us but whose contributions remain part of our story.

40 years later, the mission continues.
